Introduction
Shrimp and fish are susceptible to toxic substances
from a number of sources, such as industrial,
urban, agriculture, effluent from other pond or farms and toxic
algae. One of the very important and common sources, which is very seldomly
considered, is aflatoxins produced by Aspergillus
spp. of fungus growing
in the feed. During storage of the feed, it is almost unavoidable that
this fungi starts to grow because of the suitable
condition. Sometimes septic hepatopancreatic
necrosis and chronic soft shell has been associated with this toxic
compounds.
Description
ToxoBind
is a tri-layered hydrous alumina silicate with extremely consistent
levels of sodium and calcium(Fig.1). It undergoes
stringent manufacturing processes designed to
optimize the cat-ion exchange capacity of the material. Data
generated for hydrated soduim calcium alumino silicated indicates that
they can alleviate the harmful effects of certain
mycotoxins by sequestration of the toxin
through chemisorptions. In other words, it binds mycotoxins, thereby
preventing mycotoxin absorption by the gut of shrimp.
Dosage
& Administration
Mix 10gm of
ToxoBind formula with 160cc of clean water, sufficient for 1kg of feed;
spread the solution around the entire surface of feed and mix it
thoroughly. Diluted form is recommended to be
used within 30min of mixing. It is very important
to use ToxoBind exactly as directed. The application rate can be adjusted
between 10 to 15gm per 1kg of dry feed, every feeding from stocking
till harvesting.
